On a completely unrelated subject, last night Keith and I managed to be first in line for The Dark Knight at The Palms' IMAX.   What follows is not meant to initiate discussions, and certainly does not contain spoilers, in a manner of speaking.   Just wanted to jot down how I felt walking out of the theatre.


I have to say that I went in for a high point differing from most other people.   And just for the record, for me personally, Aaron Eckhart and Gary Oldman outshone Heath Ledger's albeit amazing performance.   Also, Christian Bale needs a Lozenge.


But back to my high point.   Finally, someone from Hollywood with the balls to present my favourite city in its true brilliant glory - Not just some slum with its back on the water, but an unstoppable, ever-growing, glittering jewel, thundering with the power of finance, with the most magnificent harbour in the world as her glimmering sash of flowing wealth.   No other city in the world bears lights that burn from higher above, with such collective beauty.   The country above her, which she will never truly be a part of, can burn... is burning, for all its worth, and all the while she shines evermore with grace and splendour.   For my part, it made me smile to see how most of the audience could barely believe that such a city exists, in her truest form as portrayed so accurately in the film.


The best part is, Nolan obviously did not need to go there to shoot.   And it most definitely was not easy, as the city stops for no one.   If I could, I would thank Nolan personally for capturing her strength and beauty with such flair.


I hope the documentary he made as a gift for the city will be available on the DVD :)
