The piece of rice, or what it may be, that she's holding in the chopsticks looks a bit to me like it could be the pupil from the eye that's missing one, which also seems to be made of rice, so maybe that's the point?  -- ~Pixel Artist/Emoticonist ~Anthro Artist ~Graphics Designer My Page ~ My Gallery  Beautiful. . Beautiful.--     ~  This new one is alot better due to the background! I don't like reworking ideas as well. Because I always try to put my best into them, so I don't generally see what I can do... Kind of a shame really.

Critiques
The new version is so much richer. The coffee colored background makes her white skin stand out in such stark contrast; it draws the eye to the shading differences between face and hand.
I also love that you clearly defined the shape of her collarbone, and the tendons in her hands.
The flowers are an excellent touch.
I'm wondering what it says next to her? Is that the title of the piece?
Finally I have to add that I find the snowflake(?) in her right eye to be vaguely creepy, but that's is part of what I like about this piece. The addition of something strange that makes it beautiful.
I wish I could comment better on your technique, but I'm not well versed on trad art. But I really do love this piece.
