I must say, I love the use of salt here on the back ground colours, and what is particularly intriguing to me is the reflection of the left leg which is detailed at the foot then trails away to white which blends in with the back ground colour. The use of turquoise balances out very well with the dark indigo blue. The wings of the owl could be a little more detailed, but the piece overall is very beautiful as is.
What is intriguing is the back ground appearing as a figure-eight nebula, further adding interest to the piece. The bits of magenta spotting along with the pale yellow wash counteract with the cool colours, and are more centred which focuses the viewer's eye to the owl's eyes and the subject matter overall. Again, a well balanced piece aided with the woman's posture along with a pleasant balance of warm and cool colours. Simply lovely work.
I am often too lazy to write critiques, but for you I'd make an exception.
I don't know what to say. I got to know your work through your funny and cute little panda's and the panda series/calendar. Once in a while some really deep impressive artwork shows up in your gallery which makes you look better at the work and think more about it. (ooooh and of course I dont mean the panda's aren't impressive, they are just more fun and easy going )
This is certainly one of them and everything seems right. The colours, composition, background. It's just perfect. I love how the girl becomes one with the bird.. At first it looks like she is wearing a mask, but then when you look better the whole bird is behind her.. it's like the big BANG that created animals and human beings (females first, of course ) .. the start of life on earth!
Also interesting about this work is that you indeed can see different characters in it; and so on different titles. Like Saturn, you taste the atmosphere in this piece. And Athina of course is the goddess of air and peace which also can be found in this piece.. you can also give your own interpretation on it, like I just did with the big bang. You can discuss about this piece like forever and that's a thing I love about GOOD art
Oh oh oh yes, one thing, the colours are STUNNING and absolutely perfect and I wish I could give you really constructive critisism but I think this is just perfect. Do more of these ^^
i love how the owl "costume" (could you call it that?) partially obsures her face mysteriously, as if it's almost part of her being, and her fluid grace and elegance reflected in the stars... lovely!
I love it too! Do you think of more ideas as you are painting or does your idea come fully-formed into your imagination? I'm terrible at painting or any kind of drawing
