I enjoy looking at your paintings. This reminds me of traditional chinese style of painting. But instead of the bright/white background you've rebelled and did it your own way. Like a modern day Rembrandt or Picasso. You painted this for your self but want to show people what it meant. It has a message, which i can't figure out. But to me she looks free.
-- ǝɔıoʌ ǝlqɯnɥ // ʎɹǝllɐƃ // oıloɟʇɹod I love the solid, dark background it makes a good contrast against the subject. I love the simplicity and varied tones used in this, including the shading. The concept is just so simple yet brilliant. Keep it up!

dunno why but that cage reminds me one of Magritte's works for some reason. oh yeh, fav. -- stock gallery | nowhere incoming Well, Magritte does have that kind of "floating" thing going on, I guess, and that whole surreal atmosphere, so yeah I can understand from your perspective.
Thank you :) -- My Portfolio Katie Franke Traditional Art Gallery Moderator I thought long and hard about the texture on her skin, and I just thought it was right for who and what she is.

This piece has a strong sense of mystery to it, it seems to be... I love how you you have her holding a cage, with little drops of light inside. I wonder what, if anything, they represent to you...? Your use of textures in her skin and in her hair give the piece a 'fragile' feel, and the thin, wispy arms and legs create an image that she is still holding on to what is around her. In her left hand, she is holding a small, red, glowing ball... does it act as a light for her, or could it be her soul, or heart? It kind of reminds me of the scene from Howl's Moving Castle when Howl swallows the star in his childhood, if you have ever seen that movie.
The black background also accents the piece a lot, and makes the figure of the woman very prominent-- not just because it is the only "figure" in the piece, but because it is rich with vivid colors and amazing textures. Looking at the submission date of this work, and seeing that you submitted it close to two years ago, I have noticed that in your later works you seem to be using more angular shapes and lighter colors... but it's all excellent, with a fantastic concept behind each unique piece of artwork.
