I love the randomness of it I never saw the original Alice in Wonderland, but I might sometime soon. Very great piece -- "It was the custom in Ancient Rome for the men to place their right hand on their testicles when taking an oath. The modern term 'testimony' is derived from this tradition." Critiques
As a huge fan of 'Alice in Wonderland,' I'm always interested in seeing how people make their own interpretations on such a universal and at times, intangible story. Looking at this, I'm most impressed seeing your usual abstract beauty juxtaposed with something just that little bit more feminine and girly. It just reflects your ability to experiement and explore new ideas.
The other things I can't help but comment on are the fine details and the use of colour in this work. It's bright and cheerful without being painfully overbearing, and it's the subtle extras such as the little splatters of paint, the different colours of the icing on the cupcakes, the fan in Alice's hair. These are all little details that would make all the difference in reailty, so it's really a mystery how many painters can miss them out on a canvas. Not an issue here though.
In terms of subject, I find there is a risk of doing the same thing over and over, making the idea 'tired' and 'done to death.' Thank you for proving to me that there are people out there using a little thing called 'imagination,' exploring new ideas, yet still staying true to what they do best.
I don't know if this Critique could truly do my appreciation justice. Or your abilities for that matter. This truly is another beautiful piece. Well done!
