The textures in this are really killer, too. You always do well with that. I think her hips may be a little too wide, though, and her right ankle/foot could definitely use some touching up. I'm not an expert with anatomy enough to give you any tips, but study yours (or Keith's -- "When the creations of a genius collide with the mind of a layman, and produce an empty sound, there is little doubt as to which is at fault. but this time I agree with ^oilsoaked
I think you didn't draw wrongly but...you mentioned a reference photograph...I have no doubt you made a very accurate copy...but perhaps the problem is in the photo...All my art teachers had always told me to be careful when using a reference photo because sometimes the photo tricks the eye and it shows in the drawing...somethings look great in the photo but when you take the image to a painting or a drawing the result seems unnatural...Try to trace an imaginary line that joins the widest parts in both sides of the hip...the line will be too slanted, in real life that hip should be broken to be able to take that position....the same with the right ankle (to the left of the image)...I am sure that it looks exactly like the pose in the photo, but as I said some photos are tricky when taken to drawings...I think it is more notorious since you are improving so much in your art... we want you to be flawless
I don't think that anatomy is too relevant in this piece. All the viewer attention goes to the impact that produces the concept. Besides your style allows some licenses in the anatomy since it is not your main concern to be hyper realistic...
I believe the weight of your image is in the concept itself and for me it's fantastic...
My major qualms with this piece aren't actually that huge at all. I find the anatomy of the woman to be a bit unnatural and a little awkward, especially in the legs and feet. They're a bit short, and the left leg is turned at a severe, nearly hip breaking angle.
I absolutely adore the expression on her face in conjunction with the act of tearing herself open with what seems to be a mechanical arm. The very content in here creates a lot of questions for the viewer, which is one of my favorite aspects of art in general.
I'd like to see pieces with more dynamic poses from you, more intrigue in the background.
Beautiful job, Katie! As always, can't wait to see more!
